In celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his transformative legacy, the public is invited to join faculty, staff, and students at 91影视 for A Mile for MLK on Thursday, January 15, at noon. The walk will begin at 12:10 p.m. at the flagpole in front of Stone Hall.
Participants are encouraged to dress warmly. A hospitality table with hand warmers and hot chocolate will be available as the campus community reflects and walks together.
This year鈥檚 observance is tied to the national theme, 鈥淢ission Possible II: Building Community, Uniting a Nation the Nonviolent Way,鈥 which calls on individuals and communities to take intentional steps toward unity, compassion, and collective action through nonviolent engagement.
鈥淎s we honor Dr. King, we also recommit to his powerful call for unity and peaceful action. This walk creates space for reflection, connection, and intentional service as we work together to build community, one step at a time,鈥 said Dr. Shenika E. Ward, Ed.D., dean of engagement at 91影视.
While this campus event takes place on Dr. King鈥檚 birthday, January 15, the wider community is also encouraged to participate in local events on Monday, January 19, the federal observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
